Tomes and songs of the deities

 Called the 16 Tomes and songs.

Each one speaking about a single deity. 


These are the books only a faithful would have. Ancient texts of the written word of that deity. Some are only spoken in song or pass down by word of mouth like the barbarians. What they each hold is the path to serve the gods and how that path will aid the gods mission in the heavens. Though only a few have not been banished from Gaia but hidden or slumber in waiting for their moment to raise again have books devoured to them as well.


Book of Ako talks of the sun forge and how it lights the sky, how Ako travels across the sky to refuel the sun forge with fuel mined from a celestial body of Mordadin that has golden dwarves mine this fuel. Ako spend much time with his daughters and sons looking for ways to remove the void from his sons. Even if one of his daughters feels he is hiding something and blame him for the loose of her twin brother. Trap between holding back his children from getting near the to lost brothers and wanting to aid them of their illness Ako has much to worry about because the children are starting to think that they can’t be recovered and may someday be put down for good. Because of this Ako will not allow his children to return to Gaia. Ako ask that his followers banish the void but not to the expense of the innocent. That they know to show mercy and rid the world of the blight. 


The words of Gaia speak of her Forest kings and how they are the core of the circles though one would thing they are all trees, they would be mistaken for they can take on any form of beast or flora. That the goal of all followers is to preserve the circle and the Forest kings that reign over them. The balance must be keep so the followers are to act as the keepers and champions. The words speak often of her daughter Luna and her youngest twin daughter, as well as of the huntress and her part in the circle. 


The songs of Luna are sung by many from the fey of the summer court to the most remote of circles. Those that sing Luna’s songs are the guardians of the circles and the will of Luna and her followers. They serve to protect Luna’s mother and her first children the forest kings. Luna songs tell of ancient times when the forest kings where young and the world was in twilight when she created her first elves and taught them the words to the songs on the circle and the need to protect them from the darkness. Thou there are those among her followers that lean toward the Huntress in the way they seek revenge on those that would desecrate the circles. 


The writings of Mordadin are in dwarven language and make up the culture and believes of this people. As he was there to build the sun forge his followers try to mimic his devotion to the art of crafting. If it is made of metal the followers take great care in it’s perfection. This is how they become close to their god and those of the other races that can stand the long hours and have the stamina are priced above others for their work. Weapons and armor as well as tools are the medium from which they work with. Some of the most impressive artificer follow Mordadin. So you will learn of the creation of the golden dwarves and how they mine for fuel to power the sun forge that lights the world. 


The tomes of Mystra are full of the arts and different schools of magic. Those that look to Mystra for guidance will find that she has many things to teach them. The tomes are broken down into the 9 rings of power and each school is devoted to a specific type. Mystra is the creator of the dragons and they server her and her family as messengers of the gods. They act as her scribes and librarians of the arts. This is where mortals take their mirror image in the physical world. As the monks and mages act as the keepers and scholars of the art. No one is born able to cast magic unless they are of dragon blood. This are those that are called Sorcerers, as for those that make a pack for power they are the warlocks. As for the others it’s their faith in Mystra that gives them the ability to cast. If you lose favor of Mystra you lose your power till you repent or you make a pack with another god of the shadow or the darkness. Mystra temples are more libraries than a place of worship. It is all about the magic and it is the science of the world. Mystra warns that magic isn’t evil but that there will always be those that will use it for selfish needs and that leads to evil. This is why the schools treat the arts as secrets that are only past to those that can be trusted.


Deneir tales of secrets is legendary. The art of finding and bargaining for secrets is what the tales speak of. But there is not a complete tale intact anywhere. Some say this is done so no two people will know all the secrets. But the followers of Deneir say that it is done to teach the followers to find and learn from their journey. The followers are know for their gift at find and know things that most wouldn’t share. They make great spies and informants. But they are rarely trusted or looked favorably because they trade in secrets not money. People are not willing to give up secrets unless it’s very important. This is where the followers known it’s worth something. Deneir only ask that its followers whisper secrets of others at his temple. 


The chronicles of Oghma are said to be cryptic to the unlearned. The followers of Oghma are very mathematically ordinary. They can be said to be walking abacus and geomancer. It’s in the chronicles that many find wisdom to create monolithic structures. Followers are know for making city plans as well as creating magical aligned sites. Anyone that reads from the chronicles will find them confusing at best. They only seem to be bring wisdom to the followers of Oghma. Even dwarves are known to gain favor from Oghma for their desire to build the perfect structure. Oghma temples will always be near a bathhouse, Aqueduct or any other large structure. Many say that Oghma created the sun forge. But the followers of Oghma would say that the god only improved on what Ako had made many times before.


Tempus scripts of the art of war have been cherished by many a warlord. The followers of Tempus have a very strict lifestyle. From the age of 10 they are taken from their mothers to learn the art of war. Even daughters that feel the pull of Tempus’s calling will join the ranks. No one is better than the followers in war and non have been able to fight them toe to toe. Only the terrain stops the followers. Historically the only loses the followers have had is in the swampland to the south. It’s not to say the followers are unbeatable but they are known for there love of war. Every aspect of their lives is surrounded by the art of war. Most temples too Tempus are barracks and training grounds for those that would become masters of the art of war. They study tactics and logistics when they are not hardness their bodies into weapons. Many an old warrior, or crippled warrior will be found at the temple as smiths and teachers.


The songs of Arvoreen can be heard every night on the plains. No child of the plains doesn’t know all the songs of Arvoreen. They speak of a child and their horse and how they are one. Not only are they amazing Calvary, but make amazing scouts and messengers. It is said that most followers learn to ride before they walk. They love they have for horses goes deep with the people of Arvoreen. So much so that they have breed horses of different sizes to aid those too small to learn how to ride. Halflings have even found the Appeal of Arvoreen song. 


The songs of Najm are sung among hunters and elder shamans. No one cuts a beast without giving thanks to Najm for the hunt. The huntress can track anything and has hunted everything. Her song sing of her giving the beast that she found worthy demigod statues for the great hunt they provided to her. It is this bond that the hunters and barbarians share with Najm that allows them to drawl from their rage. The followers keep a verbal song of Najm to teach its followers the secrets of the hunt and how to live off the land. The song speaks of the curse of Najm and how poachers will be marked by her curse. Followers of Najm have been know to track poacher 100 of miles. Many never escape the curse and if they do they are carved up as if they had hunted themselves. 


The tomes of Sharindlar speaks of a promise that the goddess made to her mother Gaia. That she would always lead a hand to those at need. The followers have taken this to heart and they will not refuse to heal anyone. It’s not that they will not expect compensation for their actions. Many a fallen or sick person have been know to serve the cause of Sharindlar. The followers don’t uses this as a something to hold over someone head but seeing they are not know for their prowess. They find those that are capable to aid them in their fight. The chanting of the followers are said to heal others and they can be found in the worst places and on the battle field. Any and all places that need their aid. So when you see a lone figure among the leopards know it is most likely a follower if Sharindlar.


The writings of Amberra are able mercy for the weak and helpless. Many a temple is home to orphans and abandon elderly. Where others see a burden the followers see a future on made. Followers are know to gather charity and create means so that those that are weak will not suffer. Now some would think that the followers would be soft but never will you find a harden person than this. Followers have been know to become vigilantes to the poor and old. Many a rogue has found themselves regretting the choice they made by taking advantage of children and the old. Some say that they can see the sins you have committed. 


Issek tomes of the hunger are read by few. Most uses it as a quick way to power and strength. Among them can be found the circle of the spore. They share a common need and don’t fight each other often. Those that have been born into the fold of Issek have a whole that will not fill. A few have escape the followers of Issek but most fall prey to its needs. Cannibalism is common among them so most don’t live to an old age. There is rumor that Ako not only imprison his nephew in the shadowlands, that he personally hunted down his son Issek and place him in a deep slumber. So that no one could find him he covered him in an illusion that is said to be a great mountain in the south. Only when he wakes will the illusion break.


The tomes of shadows is the word of Dexus. It is said that it was written by those that were listed by Drexus himself. The word is for those that will make a pact with him they will know great power. Not all follower are given favor and a pack made. This are among the zealots that seek be chosen. Many a Tiefling are known to be followers of Drexus. All seek to free their master from the land of shadows.


Erevan Tales is told to children so they don’t misbehave. The story of the Well of forgotten is to frighten children. The followers hide in the shadows to prey to there goddess and she would have it no other way. The tales are full of stories of woe and hardship. How her brother was taken from her and how she will never be able to walk among her children. Followers are known to be tricksters and trouble makers. Many feel they are a victim of the gods war and blame the other followers of the gods and goddess for their circumstances.
